About Advantage Autism

Hello everyone, I'm Brianna Harvey, the founder of Advantage Autism and Therapy Services, LLC! I got my start in this field while earning my undergrad in Social Work. I worked with a 6 year old boy who had autism and immediately became fascinated by autism and applied behavior analysis. I loved celebrating all the milestones this boy achieved and felt such joy in this work. I spent almost a year working with him before services ended. I then focused on my degree and earned my Bachelor of Social Work from Indiana University. I worked in child welfare for a few years, but constantly thought about my time with that boy. It caused me to further my education and find employment with an ABA clinic. I earned my Master of the Arts in Applied Behavior Analysis from Ball State University and soon after achieved my status as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
In my time working in the field, I always thought I was helping my clients by teaching them ways to fit in. I learned, not soon enough, that it is okay to stand out! I had to take a look at some of the methods I had been taught and discover some hard truths around goals that weren't so important and some that may have even been harmful. I changed my practices to become more trauma-informed and client-centered. I am excited to bring that into this community and help clients and families advocate for their needs. When I am not providing therapy, you can find me spending time with my husband and 2 kids. We love going to the zoo and children's museum. You may also find me teaching dance at a local studio! |
